It seems like no time at all since M. Night Shyamalan’s name landed on everyone’s lips when he directed The Sixth Sense in 1999. Now, 30 years since his directorial debut seven years before that, Shyamalan has begun filming on his 15th feature film, Knock at the Cabin. Having had mixed reviews last year with Old, the director has wasted no time in moving on to his never movie, although, as you would probably expect, there is very little currently known about the new film other than some of the cast.

Though he has occasionally missed the mark, Shyamalan is one of the most interesting directors in the business. A master of the twist, he has delivered some of the most surprising and shocking movie endings of the last two decades. There is little doubt that Knock at the Cabin will be another tale of unease and terror that will flip audience expectations in its final act, and Shyamalan was happy to announce that filming is underway on the movie via his Twitter account.

Knock at the Cabin is currently slated to arrive in cinemas on Feb. 23, 2023, and features a cast including Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista and The Matrix Resurrection’s Jonathan Groff, along with Ben Aldridge, William Ragsdale and Nikki Amuka-Bird. The title and set up of the movie seems to suggest that the story will slip into the sci-fi horror arena that the director usually favors, but with plot details non-existent, we can only wait and see what comes from the movie nearer the time of its release.

M. Night Shyamalan Planned to Reunite With Bruce Willis on a New Movie

The Sixth Sense

Before Bruce Willis announced his retirement due to being diagnosed with Aphasia, M. Night Shyamalan had been planning to work with the actor again on a movie called Labor of Love that the director had been working on since 2014. The pair previously worked together on, The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and again in the sequel Glass, which was also a sequel to another originally unconnected movie of Shyamalan’s, Split. While all of those movies shared mixed reviews, they were still among some of the director’s biggest works, and in the wake of Willis’ retirement and Shyamalan showed his appreciation of the actor by saying, “He will always be that hero on that poster on my wall as a kid.”

Knock at the Cabin will be another chance for Shyamalan to put his unique vision to work. Whether it delivers another Sixth Sense experience, or lands into the middling category of some of his other movies, there is no doubt that the film will provide a couple of hours of entertainment for his biggest fans when it arrives next February. In the meantime, Shyamalan acts as producer on Apple TV+ series Servant, which is currently on its third season, and produces the new thriller The Vanishings at Caddo Lake. Of course, for those wanting to delve into his past hits, then they can all be found on one streaming service or another.
