Justin Kurzel is in talks with New Regency and Ubisoft to direct the video game adaptation Assassin's Creed, which would reunite him with his Macbeth star Michael Fassbender. This news comes just a few weeks after Bill Collage and Adam Cooper (Exodus: Gods and Kings) came aboard to rewrite the script.

We reported in January that Daniel Espinosa (Safe House, Easy Money) was being eyed to direct, but that isn't happening anymore. Both New Regency and Ubisoft are eager to get this action-thriller into production, meaning Justin Kurzel's deal will likely be finalized very soon.

Justin Kurzel isn't exactly known for action movies, with indies such as The Snowtown Murders and The Turning under his belt. However, he recently wrapped Macbeth with Michael Fassbender, and it seems the actor, who is also producing Assassin's Creed, must have liked what he saw on the set to bring him on board for this project.

New Regency and Ubisoft are also teaming up for another video game adaptation, Splinter Cell, which has Tom Hardy attached to star and Doug Liman set to direct.
