The producer of one of last year's biggest comic book movies is going back into the genre once more. Variety is reporting that Watchmen producer Lloyd Levin has acquired the rights to the comic book series Mage.

The series was created by Matt Wagner, which is a reimagined version of the Camelot legend. The story centers on Kevin Matchstick, a troubled young man who learns he possesses special powers and, with the aid of an enchanted baseball bat, seeks out to vanquish the evil plans of the Umbra Sprite.

"It has always been a favorite book of mine," Levin told the site. "It's one of the great untapped comic books from the '80s renaissance that also spawned Watchmen and 'Batman: Dark Knight.'"

It was said that Levin will finance the development and production of the film along with producing and the site also reported that Levin was "close to attaching a writer" for the film.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further developments concerning Mage as soon as we have more information.
