Arya Stark is heading to MultiVersus, the upcoming video game from Warner Bros. Games uniting various characters from the studio's IP library. Played by Maisie Williams in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, Arya had been a fan favorite from the very start all the way to the end, always standing out as one of the most popular characters. She'll be available as a playable fighter in MultiVersus, and better yet, it's been confirmed that Williams will be lending her voice to the role.

In MultiVersus, the "Multiverse is at your fingertips as you battle it out in intense 2v2 matches. Up against Batman & Shaggy? Try using Bugs Bunny & Arya Stark! This platform fighter lets you play out your fantasy matchups in a fun co-op or head-to-head fight for supremacy." Each fighter comes with unique abilities that pair dynamically with other characters, and various maps will be included from these fighters' legendary worlds. The free-to-play game will come with regular updates introducing new characters, stages, modes, skins, and more.

Arya Stark's special movies include the "Face-Stealer" and "Dagger Slash." Her character description for MultiVersus reads: "Born the third child of Eddard and Catelyn Stark, Arya never wanted to be a lady or waste time with formality. She thought that was a boring task better left to her siblings. But when her father was murdered and her family deposed, young Arya found herself on a new journey that would take her across Westeros, and eventually to Essos where she trained to be a Faceless Man that transformed her into an accomplished swordswoman and deadly assassin. It was a transformation that would change the course of her life - and all of Westeros - forever."

As Arya, players will have the ability to beat up all kinds of random characters from the Warner Bros. library. Other confirmed playable characters include Batman, Bugs Bunny, Finn the Human, Garnet, Harley Quinn, Jake the Dog, Reindog, Shaggy, Steven Universe, Superman, Tom and Jerry, and Wonder Woman. More are said to be coming soon. Some of the other all-star names attached to the voice cast include Kevin Conroy as Batman, Tara Strong as Harley Quinn, and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy.

This is a fun surprise for Game of Thrones fans, as there hadn't been any indication that Maisie Williams would ever reprise her Arya Stark role. The character did make it to the end of Game of Thrones, and the open-ended conclusion for her character left the door open for a possible spinoff. However, it was made apparent by HBO after the series finale aired that she wouldn't be reprising that role. There are multiple spinoffs in development at HBO, including the upcoming series House of the Dragon, but they are prequels set far in the past, long before Arya Stark was born.

"Part of it is, I do want this show — this Game of Thrones, Dan and David's show — to be its own thing. I don't want to take characters from this world that they did beautifully and put them off into another world with someone else creating it," HBO programming president Casey Bloys told THR in 2019. "I want to let it be the artistic piece they've got. That's one of the reasons why I'm not trying to do the same show over. George (R.R. Martin) has a massive, massive world; there are so many ways in. That's why we're trying to do things that feel distinct — and to not try and redo the same show."

MultiVersus will be released in 2022 for PS4, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You can watch the first look reveal video game trailer below, and you can find out more about the game at MultiVersus.com.
