Malcolm McDowell has boarded Genre Company and Inferno's Ember production's reboot of the classic 1984 horror film, Silent Night, Deadly Night.

The remake will be called Silent Night and follows a local police department's search for the killer Santa Claus terrorizing a remote Midwestern town on Christmas Eve. The actor will be portraying Sheriff Cooper, a small-town hero ready for some big-time action.

Steven C. Miller will be directing the remake from a script by Jayson Rothwell. Richard Saperstein, Brian Witten and Shara Kay are producing with Phyllis Laing.

Production for the project begins next month with a possible holiday season release date.
