Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons) has signed on to play Lara Lor-Van, Superman's Kryptonian mother, in Man of Steel, replacing Julia Ormond who was originally attached to the part.

Ayelet Zurer will join the production this week, which is currently underway this fall in Vancouver, and the neighboring town of Ucluelet.
