When you have a costume as iconic as Superman in a blockbuster such as Man of Steel, there are often several early interpretations that are discarded before the final suit is selected. 10 concept art illustrations have been released from artist Warren Manser, which reveal the long process it takes in going from page and pencil to screen with something as huge as rebooting a legendary DC comic book character known by all and loved by most. Here, we see designs that are practically identical to the all-grey Kryptonian armor suits worn by both General Zod (Michael Shannon) and Jor-El (Russell Crowe) on their home planet. Another illustration gives us Superman's tights without the red cape. While another offers a peek at those controversial red underpants, which were at one time being considered. Do you prefer these earlier designs to the costume featured in director Zack Snyder's superhero adventure? Or do you prefer the simpler, streamlined approach? Maybe in black and white?
