Actor Christopher Meloni is in talks to star in the Warner Bros. superhero project Man of Steel. A month ago, the actor announced he is leaving the hit TV series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, which he has starred in since the show's premiere in 1999.

There is no indication yet of what role Christopher Meloni may have in Man of Steel, although it is believed to be a pivotal role. Just yesterday, we reported that Julia Ormond signed on to Man of Steel, portraying Lara, the birth mother of Kal-El (Henry Cavill). It was believed that Lara was the last primary part to be cast in Man of Steel, although it seems there may be one last crucial role left to be filled, albeit a mysterious one.

Zack Snyder is directing Man of Steel from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, which was developed by Christopher Nolan.

Production on Man of Steel is slated to begin sometime this summer.
