According to Variety, Mandalay Pictures is going to turn the online novel Machine Man in feature film. The book is written by author Max Barry.

Mandalay has picked up film rights to the property that Vantage Books will publish in 2011. The story follows a tech engineer who is tired of going through life average and unnoticed. He then "replaces parts of his body with titanium upgrades of his own design," and discovers that he isn't the only one who has plans for his new body.

Barry is revealing one page each day as he puts the book together. It is part of an interactive literary experiment that incorporates suggestions from readers as the story unfolds.

Mandalay's Cathy Schulman, who is going to develop the project before taking it to studios, called Barry "one of the freshest voices in fiction today. Max has written a novel that's like candy for Web-geek personalities and thriller lovers alike."
