The fan campaign to save the series has been successful, as Manifest has just been picked up by Netflix for a fourth and final season. Initially premiering on NBC in 2018, Manifest found a much bigger audience when its episodes later began streaming on Netflix. Earlier this summer, NBC opted not to renew the show after three seasons, and matters were made worse when Netflix declined to pick it up for season 4.

Regardless, fans and creator Jeff Rake continued their efforts to save Manifest. Fans have consistently binged the episodes on Netflix to keep Manifest among the streamer's most-watched titles. They have also been tagging Netflix frequently with posts on social media to #SaveManifest as part of their campaign. Ultimately, it was too much for Netflix to ignore, and now a deal has been finalized to give the show another season exclusive to the streaming service.

"Since its premiere on Netflix in June, Manifest has proven very popular with our members. Jeff Rake and his team have crafted a beguiling mystery that has viewers around the world on the edge of their seats and believing again in second chances, and we're thrilled that they will bring fans some closure with this final super-sized season," said Bela Bajaria, head of globe TV, Netflix, in a statement.

Rake added: "What started years ago as a flight of fancy deep in my imagination has evolved into the jet engine journey of a lifetime. Never in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned the worldwide outpouring of love and support for this story, its characters, and the team who work so hard to bring it all to life. That we will be able to reward the fans with the ending they deserve moves me to no end. On behalf of the cast, the crew, the writers, directors, and producers, thank you to Netflix, to Warner Bros., and of course to the fans. You did this."

As of now, returning cast members haven't been officially confirmed. It seems most likely that the same cast and characters will return, as many have been open about their desire to continue the series as well. In the first three seasons, the starring cast included Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor.

A logline for Manifest reads: "When Montego Air Flight 828 landed safely after a turbulent but routine flight, the crew and passengers were relieved. But in the span of those few hours, the world had aged five years -- and after mourning their loss, their friends, families and colleagues had given up hope and moved on. Now, faced with the impossible, they're all given a second chance. But as their new realities become clear, a deeper mystery unfolds, and some of the returned passengers soon realize they may be meant for something greater than they ever thought possible."

The first three seasons of Manifest are currently streaming on Netflix. It's unclear when the fourth and final season will begin filming or when it may potentially debut on the streamer. In any case, it should be comforting to know that things will not end on the season 3 cliffhanger, giving the cast and crew the chance to tell a proper ending. This news comes to us from Variety.
