According to Variety, Label News has just wrapped the production of Marilyn, Her Final Secret. The new investigative documentary on blonde bombshell actress Marilyn Monroe is set to reveal the identity of her biological identity of her father, whom she never met.

Marilyn, Her Final Secret is directed by Francois Pomès and based on exclusive DNA research conducted by Ludovic Orlando, an expert in molecular archeology working in Southern France. Orlando used Monroe’s hair sample, which was provided by the renowned auctioneer and authenticator John Reznikoff, as well as a saliva sample from the great-grandchild of Monroe’s suspected father, Charles Stanley Gifford.

“The hair that we used from Monroe was collected by the person who embalmed her body the day she died and we were able to draw up 22% of her genetic profile from that thanks to a DNA fragment found in the keratin,” said Pomès.

The new documentary will combine archive footage and interviews about Monroe’s efforts to find and connect with her father, in addition to the DNA evidence. The director-producer said he “spent years and sleepless nights” to deliver the one-hour documentary about who Monroe’s real father was and to “break a ‘family secret.’” Pomès said, “The thing that I touched me the most was seeing the reaction of Gifford’s family who was overwhelmed by this irrefutable evidence.”

Marilyn, Her Final Secret is set to premiere in June on the French channel Toute l’Histoire. Mediawan Rights, the commercial arm of the media group, is selling both the French and English-language versions.

Ana de Armas to Star in Marilyn Monroe Biopic

Ana de Armas Blonde

Blonde, the upcoming biopic written and directed by Andrew Dominik is adapted from the Joyce Carol Oates' 2000 novel of the same name. The movie stars Ana de Armas as Monroe, Adrien Brody as Arthur Miller, Bobby Cannavale as Joe DiMaggio, and Julianne Nicholson as Gladys Pearl Baker. The Netflix film recently received a NC-17 rating by the Motion Picture Association, which the writer-director feels is the most effective way to tell Monroe's story.

Blonde has been rated NC-17 for its racy content, with the film based on a fictionalized version of Monroe's sex scandals and affairs apparently featuring enough of it to surpass an R rating. However, if you ask Dominik, the news of the NC-17 comes as no surprise to the cast and crew of the film because that had always been the plan.

"It's an NC-17 movie about Marilyn Monroe," Dominik previously told ScreenDaily, prior to the film getting its official MPA rating. "It's kind of what you want, right? I want to go and see the NC-17 version of the Marilyn Monroe story. It's a demanding movie. If the audience doesn't like it, that's the f-----g audience's problem. It's not running for public office."

The director added, "It’s much easier to support stuff when you like it. It’s much harder when you don’t. I have nothing but gratitude for Netflix." Blonde is scheduled to be released on Netflix in 2022, although it doesn't appear a specific date has been set.
