Loki star Tom Hiddleston will join forces with Star Wars actor and Hollywood legend Mark Hamill for an adaptation of the Stephen King short story, The Life of Chuck. As per a report by Deadline, the match made in cinematic heaven that is Hamill and Hiddleston will lead the project, with The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass writer and director Mike Flanagan to helm.

The Life of Chuck will be based on one of King’s short stories from his 2020 anthology If It Bleeds and tells the story of Charles Krantz. The Life of Chuck is in fact three separate stories linked together which tell the biography of Charles Krantz in reverse, beginning with his death from a brain tumor at 39 and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.

The script, which was written before the WGA strike began, will find Tom Hiddleston, who is of course best known for his role in the MCU as well as roles in the likes of High-Rise, Kong: Skull Island, and The Night Manager, as the title character, with Hamill playing a character named Albie. According to reports, The Life of Chuck will look to the best of the best Stephen King adaptations for inspiration, aspiring for a tone akin to that of Stand by Me, The Green Mile, and The Shawshank Redemption.

This latest Stephen King adaptation is expected to be a hot property when it goes up for sale at the Cannes market, especially with the joint talents of Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill alongside the writing, directing, and producing of Mike Flanagan. The Life of Chuck comes courtesy of Intrepid Pictures with FilmNation reportedly handling international sales while WME Independent deal with things domestically.
