Kick-Ass, from the minds of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. has now entered pre-production, with Matthew Vaughn at the helm. Comic Book Resources reports that the film, which is adapted from the creator-owned comic from Marvel Comic's Icon Imprint, is already in casting.

According to reports, the screenplay for Kick-Ass was written by Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn, and Vaughn both financed the film and is set to direct. The film is reportedly in casting already, and is searching for a major star to lead. The report teases that "when news breaks on a certain actor they have lined up..." a distribution deal will be right around the corner.

The comic (and film) follows the story of a 15-year-old boy named Dave Lizewski who, despite living in the "real world", decides to become a superhero.
