Ryan Reynolds’ Netflix movie The Adam Project is all about time travel, and the film helped reunite Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner 18 years after they starred together in the 2004 rom-com 13 Going on 30. In a moment of real-life time-travel, the pair has shared an image on social media that sees them recreating one of the scenes from their previous movie that is sure to strike a nostalgic chord with those who remember the movie well and cannot quite believe it is almost two decades old.

13 Going on 30 starred Garner as Jenna Rink, a teenager who, in true Big style, wishes that she was 30 and wakes up the following day to find that her wish has come true and she is now living and working in New York as a 30-year-old and reconnects with her former best friend Matty. While the pair went on to be big stars, and have both gone on to appear in Marvel movies, their paths have not crossed since until appearing together in the new Netflix film.

The new image shared by Garner on her Instagram account shows the pair snuggling up to each other in a replication of a scene that sees them sharing a couch, which is almost identical to a scene in the Shawn Levy directed The Adam Project. At the same time, She-Hulk star Ruffalo posted a video of them recalling working together on the 2004 rom-com.

Elektra Lives Again Is the Marvel Movie Zack Snyder Wants to Make

A year before starring in 13 Going on 30, Jennifer Garner appeared in the Ben Affleck version of Daredevil as Elektra, a role she reprised in 2005 in a solo movie that really didn’t get the most outstanding reviews and saw the Daredevil franchise slink away for a while. Although there is no chance that Garner will be returning to her Elektra role, it would be foolish to rule out a future Marvel appearance in the MCU as another character. On the other hand, Mark Ruffalo joined the Marvel story years later in 2012’s The Avengers and will be soon appearing again in the upcoming She-Hulk series.

Rumors are currently circulating that Marvel Studios is about to reacquire the full rights to The Incredible Hulk and are ready to give Ruffalo his first solo movie as the MCU’s green angry giant. With whispers suggesting that a World War Hulk storyline could be in development, there doesn’t appear to be any chance of the actor giving up his Marvel role just yet.

The Adam Project brings Ruffalo and Garner together with Ryan Reynolds in a thrilling adventure that sees Reynolds traveling back in time and teaming up with his child self to save the world. Leaning heavily into the nostalgic feel of 80s movies such as The Goonies and E.T., the film has just arrived on Netflix and is expected to be another massive hit from Reynolds for the streamer after last year’s release of his team up with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot in Red Notice.
