There have been casting rumors flying around regarding Transformers 4 ever since it was reported in February that the sequel will feature an all new cast. Today, we have word that Mark Wahlberg is in early talks to star.

While no story details have been confirmed, this new action-adventure will reportedly center on an adult man (Mark Wahlberg) and his teenage son, with the younger character to be the focus of future sequels. This would seem to contradict the rumor that surfaced last week, which indicated the male and female lead will be a high school senior and her race-car driving boyfriend.

Ehren Kruger (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon) wrote the screenplay for Michael Bay to direct from. Mark Wahlberg recently starred in Pain and Gain for the director, alongside Dwayne Johnson.
