Back in October, we reported that director Martin Scorsese is in talks to direct The Snowman, an adaptation of Jo Nesbo's novel. Today we have word that Martin Scorsese has officially signed on to direct the film.

The novel centers on Harry Hole, a hard-drinking Norwegian detective who investigates a series of grisly murders. The scarf of one victim is found on a bizarre snowman, who at times appears to be staring into her family's house.

Martin Scorsese will direct The Snowman from an adapted screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan (World War Z). Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce for Working Title Films.

It is said author Jo Nesbo had to sign off on Martin Scorsese directing this adaptation. Jo Nesbo is also not insisting that the movie be filmed in Oslo, Norway, where the novel is set. The Snowman is the seventh novel in Jo Nesbo's Harry Hole book series.
