Martin Scorsese has signed a production deal with Paramount and will produce the history drama, The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal and Trial by Combat in Medieval France along with Kevin Misher's Misher Films; Martin may also direct as well.

Based on the Eric Jager 2004 novel, the film tells the story of a duel that occurred in 1386 between knights Jean de Carrouges and Jacques LeGris, says Variety. The fight was the last sanctioned by the French government, in this case by a young King Charles IV.

No word on a production start for The Last Duel.
