Marvel fans were finally able to watch the full trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight on Monday, and while there was much to take away from the new footage, it was the first look at Ethan Hawke’s villain that had many fans doing a double-take as they were convinced they were actually seeing Kevin Bacon. The two-minute trailer revealed a very vague introduction to the nearly unknown character among casual Marvel fans, and has certainly raised the intrigue level around the upcoming series which will be arriving in March. However, fans on social media just couldn’t help but comment on how much Hawke’s look is very reminiscent of Kevin Bacon’s Tremors character of Valentine McKee.

There had been a lot of speculation about when the Moon Knight series would air on Disney+, and in the last week it seemed that due to post-production being completed quicker than that of She-Hulk, the series telling the origin story of Oscar Isaac’s Marc Spector and his transformation into the vigilante of Moon Knight, who is a mercenary for the Moon God Khonshu. Until now details about the series and in particular Ethan Hawke’s character have been scarce, despite Hawke being asked a number of times about who he is playing in the series in many interviews.

Now that fans have finally been given a clear look of his villain, Arthur Harrow, they have been left with a completely unexpected question now dominating social media: Is that really Ethan Hawke, or has the ever-popular Kevin Bacon managed to sneak himself into the MCU instead? Obviously, it is Hawke in the series, but considering the pair have found themselves being added to many “separated at birth” lists in the past, at a quick glance it could be very easy to mistake one for the other.

Ethan Hawke Was Encouraged To Star In Moon Knight By Oscar Isaac

Ethan Hawke Is the Main Villain in Moon Knight Disney+ Series

Speaking in an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Hawke discussed his upcoming role, in as much detail as the Official Marvel Secrets Act would allow, and revealed that he partly has co-star Oscar Isaac to thank for him being in the series after the actor encouraged him to go for the role. Hawke said:

“Well, I heard about it from Oscar Isaac who lives, like, three blocks down the street from me in Brooklyn. And I was at a coffee shop, and he came up to me and he said, ‘Hey, I really like the Good Lord Bird.’ I was like, ‘Oh, cool, yeah. I really like your work, you’re amazing.’ He was like, ‘Hey, want to be in the Moon Knight with me?’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’”

Moon Knight will arrive in March as a much darker entry to the MCU thank anyone initially expected, but that in a way will pave the way to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which lands in cinemas a couple of months later and promises to bring horror into the Marvel universe. The first episode of Moon Knight will premiere on Disney+ on March 30th, when some of its secrets will be unveiled.
