Will Adam McKay direct a movie for Marvel Studios? That's what the man behind such classics as Step Brothers and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is telling everyone he wants to do next.

When director Edgar Wright walked away from Marvel's next big standalone franchise Ant-Man, the studio raced to secure a team that would be able to complete the movie on time for it's locked in release date of July 2015. One of the new crew members it picked up was Anchorman director Adam McKay, who decided not to helm the adventure, but did join the team as a writer, working alongside Paul Rudd to revise the script. Now, he has decided that he may want to actually direct one of their upcoming standalone features.

Talking with Crave Online, Adam McKay teased his future with Marvel Studios.

"[I] had such a great time working with them that we're kicking around ideas. But yeah, maybe I would take on one of the characters. We haven't locked in anything, but discussions are definitely going on."

Adam McKay is currently shooting The Big Short, an adaptation of the Michael Lewis novel that examines the housing and credit bubble of the 2000s.
