This week, there have been a number of revolving rumors concerning Marvel Phase 3 and the characters who may or not be included in the new Avengers roster. One thing is for certain, just as Captain America: The Winter Soldier shook up the Marvel cinematic universe with its H.Y.D.R.A. reveal, Avengers: Age of Ultron is sure to bring just as much damage. And some of our most beloved characters won't even be back for Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.

Fall of last year, Marvel announced it's upcoming Phase 3 slate, which will introduce new characters such as Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange and Inhumans. And of course, we also learned that a teenage Spider-Man is getting thrown into the mix. But how will they be introduced, and will all, or any, of them become part of the Avengers team as other, older members slowly drift away? There are a number of conflicting reports swirling around this idea, so it's hard to figure out what is true and what is false. It also doesn't help that a lot of the information comes from various drafts of different scripts. So there is the potential for endless debate until that moment when the first real audience member sits down to watch one of these movies and reports back to us.

The events seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron promise to lead directly into Captain America: Civil War, and if we're to believe some of the rumors out there, a new Avengers team will be introduced this summer, which we will get to actually see in action summer 2016. Who will make up this team? Superhero News claims to have the answer. Here is the line-up:

  • Captain America - Team Leader #1
  • Black Widow - Team Leader #2
  • Falcon
  • Scarlet Witch
  • Vision
  • War Machine

Now, you may see Scarlet Witch included here, and wonder what happened to her brother Quicksilver. SPOILER ALERT! According to various sources, Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Quicksilver will die in Avengers: Age of Ultron trying to save one of his comrades. Badass Digest says this is not true, though that did happen in an early draft of the screenplay. So, it's anybody's guess. Does he live or die? Again, we'll have to wait and see the movie to find out. But either way, he is not joining the Avengers. Perhaps he's too busy joining the X-Men?

Now, with this new team lineup, we see some classic characters from the first two movies missing. Badass Digest claims to know what happened to them. Tony Stark is just 'done' with the Avengers initiative. Thor will head back to Asgard at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron to deal with events that will lead directly into Thor: Ragnarok. He'll be so busy with this trip back home, he will not show up in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 at all. The same goes for Hulk, who has gone missing. At this time, Mark Ruffalo is one of the few actors not confirmed to return in some capacity for Phase 3, and he is not getting his own solo movie anytime soon. It has been previously rumored that Hulk is sent off planet in a Quinjet with no way to return home. Soaring across the cosmos, he eventually bumps into Star-Lord and pals, and will be included in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. He will then return with his new friends in Avengers: Infinity War Part 2. This sets the stage for everyone in the Marvel cinematic universe to have their ultimate showdown with Thanos. While none of the rumors in this story have been confirmed by anyone at Marvel or Disney, this last bit of news, which has been around forever, sounds more plausible than ever.

As of now, there does not seem to be any plans to include Black Panther, Captain Marvel or Doctor Strange as part of the Avengers team. But that certainly could change, especially with a lot of the screenplays not even written yet. What do you think? Do you like the new Avengers line-up? Or are they second rate hacks compared to the original team? Let us know what you think!
