Marvel actor Wyatt Russell is being kept in the dark over his eventual return to the MCU as John Walker AKA U.S. Agent. In an interview with Collider, Russell revealed that he knows absolutely nothing about when Walker might return to screens. Despite the character being expected to return in the likes of Captain America 4 and the recently announced Thunderbolts movie.

"No, you never know. They do a really good job of keeping it secret. It's part of the allure. You always hope that you can come back and you hope that you'll get the phone call. If I pick up the phone and it's Marvel on the other end of the line, you're like, 'All right, cool. Let's go to work.'"

Marvel Studios has become well-renowned for its commitment to secrecy, and it sounds like this extends to even the potential stars of future projects. Wyatt Russell made his MCU debut in last year’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier courtesy of Disney+. Starring as John Walker, Russell’s character begins as a new, far more tortured Captain America. After fighting both alongside and against the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Walker reveals his violent side and is stripped of the mantle, which is then rightly passed onto Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson.

The last audiences saw of John Walker, he was being given a new suit and a new name, U.S. Agent, by Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, which many have assumed will lead into the upcoming Thunderbolts.

While details of Captain America 4 and Thunderbolts, and John Walker’s potential role in both, remains a mystery, Russell did reveal what he hopes to see from the character if and when he does make a comeback.

"I haven't really even thought about, if the character comes back, what I hope he becomes. There are so many different ways that you can go with it. I just hope that whatever it is, is continued along this line of this struggle with self," the actor said. "That is something that I can do, as well as I think it needs to be done. As long as he has that conflict within himself, he can have a change of mind and he can go through therapy. There are lots of different ways you can go. I only ever hope that it goes an interesting way, but a certain way, that's not up to me."

Captain America 4 will pick up with Sam Wilson as he attempts to continue the legacy of his friend and former Avenger, Steve Rogers. Though plot details have not yet been revealed, rumors have claimed that the sequel will introduce audiences to the lesser-known Marvel villain, Sinthea Shmidt AKA Sin, who just so happens to be the daughter of Steve Rogers' archenemy, The Red Skull. It has now been officially announced that Luce and The Cloverfield Paradox director Julius Onah will helm Captain America 4 for Marvel Studios.

As for the Thunderbolts movie, director Jake Schreier has reportedly been tapped to direct the movie, which will introduce a team of antiheroes that includes US Agent, Baron Zemo, Abomination, and more.
