Marvel Studios has tapped veteran marketing exec Geoffrey Ammer as president of worldwide marketing and home entertainment. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this appointment comes just as Marvel is preparing for the release of Iron Man, it's first self-financed and self-produced film.

Ammer will be in charge of theatrical and home entertainment marketing for Marvel's upcoming slate of live action motion pictures, including both Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Ammar will partner with Marvel's distribution partners in guiding pre and post release marketing initiatives, including creative advertising, publicity, promotions, licensing, merchandising, interactive marketing, research and media planning.

Marvel is also working with Lionsgate, Twentieth Century Fox and Columbia with their licensed film properties such as Punisher: War Zone, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Spider-Man 4.

Ammer is no stranger to films based on Marvel properties. He was the president of worldwide marketing for Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group for years, and worked to promote Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and Men In Black II.
