It would seem that having made it through the continued delays of the Covid pandemic and the subsequent delays caused by limited resources in the industry’s visual effects departments, Marvel Studios has now found itself with another reason to delay some of their big upcoming releases. It seems that the loss of Blade director Bassam Tariq and the subsequent need to take time to regroup on the Mahershala Ali-led movie has had a ripple effect with a number of other releases, including the recently announced Deadpool 3 and the Multiverse Saga’s concluding Avengers: Secret Wars.

The result of all this is a new timeline of Marvel Cinematic Universe releases, with some movies being shunted down the line more than others. Blade, as you would expect, will see the longest of these delays, shifting almost a year from its originally planned date of November 3, 2023, to September 6, 2024. Of course, this is the date that was recently revealed to be the day Deadpool finally makes his MCU debut, but that will now be given a little push to November 8, 2024, instead.

Further down the line, the Fantastic Four movie will now be delayed by three months to February 14, 2025, and even though Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has retained its original release date of May 2, 2025, fans will now have a similar wait to that between the last two Avengers movies of the Infinity Saga, with Avengers: Secret Wars dropped back from November 7, 2025, to May 1, 2026.

There Are a Number of Marvel Movies Still to be Revealed

While Kevin Feige has laid out the bare bones of Phase Six over the last few months, he has not given away all of Marvel’s secrets just yet. With Avengers: Secret Wars now not arriving until May 2026, there are now several movies that will take place between the two Avengers movies that seemed to be originally closing the Multiverse Saga as a two-header. This includes untitled releases on July 25th, 2025; November 7th, 2025; and February 13th, 2026. There are an additional two movies listed for release on July 24, 2026, and November 6, 2026.

All in all, it is quite interesting that there was previously just one movie set to arrive between the two huge Avengers movies, similar to how Phase Three played its final cards, but with an additional two films now scheduled between The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, there is plenty of time to speculate over what these movies could be, and how they could be significant to the end of the Multiverse Saga. It is likely that Doctor Strange 3 could be one of these movies, with Multiverse of Madness’ post-credits scene having teased another multiverse adventure for the Doctor, and Marvel has recently also announced that Armor Wars will be heading to the big screen rather than being a Disney+ series. Then there are the likes of Eternals 2, Spider-Man 4, Thor 5 and Shang-Chi 2, all potentially arriving sometime within the next few years.

In the ever-changing world of the MCU, while Blade’s rescheduling has certainly had an impact on a few movies, it seems that Kevin Feige and his team may have just added a few additional treats to the Multiverse Saga.
