With the upcoming arrival of Marvel's Thor: The Dark World, the second movie in their Phase Two plan, many have been speculating about stories that may be told further down the line in Phase Three.

Kevin Feige was recently asked if clues such as the Tesseract, Loki's mind-control scepter and Thor: The Dark World's Malekith the Accursed chasing after the God-like Aether, are leading us to an Infinity Gauntlet story in The Avengers 3. Here's what he had to say.

"Well, I don't know that I would spell it out that clearly, necessarily, but certainly fans of the comics could surmise that all of this is leading somewhere. That Joss' decision to have Thanos turn around and smile for the audience at the end of Avengers, our reveal, was always the plan."

We last saw the Infinity Gauntlet in Odin's vault during the first Thor. This powerful device first debuted in the Marvel comic books during the 1990s, where Thanos gets a hold of this glove featuring six gems (time, space, power, mind, reality, soul) that give the user God-like powers. He uses this gift to destroy all of the Marvel superheroes until he is betrayed by Nebula, who is being played by Karen Gillan in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Kevin Feige also teased the the MacGuffin (the one device that everyone in any given movie is fighting over) in previous Marvel movies, including the upcoming Thor: The Dark World, leads in to next summer's Guardians of the Galaxy.

"And where it goes from there, we'll see... But yes, the MacGuffin of Guardians certainly plays into MacGuffins of the past."

There is also speculation that the Infinity Gauntlet may be used in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, to explain how Scarlet Witch got her powers.
