/gi-joe-3-villain-twins-tomax-and-xamot/Earlier today, we learned that twins Tomax and Xamot may be the main villains in G.I. Joe 3. That same report, which originated at Film Divider, also claims that Paramount and Hasbro are looking to re-launch their M.A.S.K. property on the big screen as part of this sequel. Though it's not known how many characters or in what capacity they may appear.

The main plan is to feature M.A.S.K. leader Matt Trakker in a key role. M.A.S.K. was an animated series that launched along with a toy line in 1985 from Kenner. The show revolved around vehicles that could transform into other forms of transportation, and the characters wore cybernetic masks that gave them various new abilities. Its roots were set in the espionage thriller scenarios of Mission: Impossible and often featured tricked-out muscle cars, with stunts to match. That could certainly lend an element of the Fast & Furious to this next sequel. And with Dwayne Johnson taking lead roles in both properties, that makes sense. At this time, The Rock is the only known returning cast member, with his Roadblock to be the main character.

By introducing Matt Trakker, it isn't known if Paramount is setting up the character for more sequels or trying to establish a spinoff series for a new franchise. When Hasbro purchased Kenner, the MASK line was folded into G.I. Joe, and a Matt Trakker action figure was released under the G.I. Joe title, with the company reinventing the character as a mission specialist.

Film Divider speculates that G.I. Joe 3 may pursue the original MASK concept by having these characters be private contractors. With the sequel set to being production this spring, we're expected to learn more details soon. Who do you think would make the best Matt Trakker? Or are you asking yourself: Who is Matt Trakker? Maybe these two toy lines should keep it separated? Let us know your thoughts below:
