Whenever Matt Damon has a new movie coming out, many late night fans get excited because that means that the actor's "feud" with Jimmy Kimmel will continue in some fashion. Ever since Jimmy Kimmel Live! debuted on ABC in 2003, Jimmy Kimmel has ended every show by apologizing to Matt Damon for not having him on, since they ran out of time. Over the years, this back-and-forth between the actor and talk show host has given fans a number of memorable moments, but during last night's episode, they both tried to bury the hatchet by attending "couple's counseling."

Last night's episode started with Matt Damon interrupting Jimmy Kimmel's monologue in a covert fashion, before he ended up sneaking onto the show disguised as Dr. Phil. But Jimmy Kimmel saw right through his ruse. Matt Damon was hoping to promote his highly-anticipated sci-fi drama The Martian, in theaters October 2, but, instead, Jimmy Kimmel aired an 11-minute video revealing their "couples therapy" session, which took this rivalry to a new level.

There have been several memorable moments in this longstanding feud, including Jimmy Kimmel's then-girlfriend Sarah Silverman recording a music video entitled "I'm F---ing Matt Damon." That video prompted Jimmy Kimmel to retaliate with a revenge video of his own, entitled "I'm F---ing Ben Affleck." In 2013, Matt Damon hijacked the entire show, while a bound and gagged Jimmy Kimmel was forced to watch.

While he still has never been "officially" interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel yet, the actor has been up on stage a few times. He was first officially invited on back in 2006, but after a lengthy recap of all the times he was booted from the show, they actually did run out of time, causing the actor to "fly off the handle." Matt Damon has appeared in a number of Jimmy Kimmel Live! sketches, including Movie: The Movie and even a segment of Mean Tweets, where the actor read a tweet from Jimmy Kimmel himself.

As you can see in the videos below, this contentious "relationship" still needs a lot of work, but we'll have to wait and see if Matt Damon will finally be interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel this week, as we get closer to The Martian's release on October 2.
