Fresh off turns in Magic Mike and Killer Joe, Matthew McConaughey has joined the cast of The Wolf of Wall Street for director Martin Scorsese.

The actor will portray Mark Hanna, the mentor to Leonardo DiCaprio's Jordan Belfort. The story centers on Jordan Belfort's meteoric rise, making millions selling phony stocks before he was arrested and sentenced to 22 months in prison for securities fraud. Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler, Jean Dujardin, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal, Rob Reiner, and Jon Favreau also star.

Martin Scorsese is directing from a screenplay by Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter, adapted from Jordan Belfort's memoir. Production is scheduled to begin later this month in New York City.
