It seems a new writer has been brought on board for a new zombie film. According to Fangoria, Matthew Michael Carnahan has come aboard to rewrite World War Z.

The site spoke with Max Brooks, who penned the original graphic novel, and revealed that Carnahan, brother of director Joe Carnahan, is taking on the project. J. Michael Straczynski was previously attached to write the film.

"He's one of Hollywood's hot A-list writers, so if they went after him and paid him a mountain of gold, it definitely shows their confidence in this project," Brooks revealed on the site's radio program.

Carnahan has written such political thrillers as The Kingdom, Lions for Lambs and this year's State of Play.
