In an interview with The Daily Mail, director Matthew Vaughn has expressed his intention to make Thor in England.

Vaughn says that there was pressure to make the film in Hollywood, but that he was resisting. "We have the A-list actors, designers, cinematographers and crew in Britain, so there's no need to make Thor among all that madness in Los Angeles."

If the film is made in the UK, it will represent a $100 million boost to the local film industry. However, due to the writer's strike, production on Thor won't be able to begin until the end of 2008.
