The first trailer for Mayans MC is here. FX has a panel scheduled for the highly-anticipated Sons of Anarchy spin-off at San Diego Comic-Con this Sunday, but they decided to give fans at home a glimpse of the series a bit earlier. So, they've released the trailer online a few days ahead of the panel. They previously released a brief teaser, but this footage gives us an actual idea of what to expect from creator Kurt Sutter's new series. With the trailer already released, it will be interesting to see what they have planned for the panel Sunday. Whatever the case, Jax may not be around anymore, but this could be just what Sons of Anarchy fans have been missing.

Mayans MC is a new drama series, which comes from the mind of Kurt Sutter and Elgin James. The spin-off is set in a post-Jax Teller world and centers on EZ Reyes (JD Pardo), a prospect in the biker gang for which the series is named, which operates on on the border between California and Mexico border. Now, EZ must carve out his new identity in a town where he once was the golden boy with the American Dream in his grasp. The series is a co-production between Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.

In addition to JD Pardo in the lead role of Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes, the cast for the series includes Clayton Cardenas, Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Michael Irby, Carla Baratta, Antonio Jaramillo, Raoul Max Trujillo, Richard Cabral and Danny Pino. Recurring stars include Emilio Rivera, Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero, Vincent Rocco Vargas, Maurice Compte, Gino Vento, Tony Plana and Ada Maris. Norberto Barba directed the first two episodes. FX actually, at one point, ordered that the entire pilot for the spin-off be recast and reshot. Barba came on board to helm the version that is actually making it to air.

This first trailer also comes with a release date reveal for the series. FX is set to debut the spin-off on September 4. That should make Mayans MC a major fixture of the network's fall lineup. The first season will consist of 10 episodes. The network is hopeful that this will be a hit in the same way that Sons of Anarchy was for them, but that could be a tall order. Spin-offs are, in general, hit or miss. Sometimes you get Frasier, sometimes you get Joey.

Sons of Anarchy debuted just shy of a decade ago in 2008 and concluded its run in 2014. FX has been planning a spin-off pretty much ever since. The series ran for a total of seven seasons, totalling 92 episodes. Most importantly, it was the networks highest-rated drama during the timespan. The show has lived on via streaming ever since and maintains a loyal fanbase. You can check out the first Mayans MC trailer, courtesy of the FX Networks YouTube channel, for yourself below.
