Just weeks after The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials cast and filmmakers appeared at Comic-Con during 20th Century Fox's Hall H panel, the studio has debuted a new trailer for this highly-anticipated sequel. The trailer gives us a new look at Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen, who plays the mysterious Janson, referred to in the James Dashner novels as "Rat-Man," the second-highest ranking WICKED official behind Chancellor Paige (Patricia Clarkson). If that wasn't enough, we also have new character posters, featuring the six main characters in this highly-anticipated sequel.
In this next chapter of the epic Maze Runner saga, Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WICKED. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WICKED's vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all. Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn't done yet.
Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch. There are no rules. There is no help. You either make it or you die. The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch-the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them. Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off. There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers' destruction-and they're determined to survive.
Dylan O'Brien is joined by The Maze Runner stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Kaya Scodelario, Ki Hong Lee and Patricia Clarkson. The sequel also features several new casting additions, including Aidan Gillen's Game of Thrones co-star Nathalie Emmanuel, Katherine McNamara, Giancarlo Esposito, Rosa Salazar and Lili Taylor. The Maze Runner earned $340.8 million worldwide at the box office from just a $34 million budget.
If the new trailer wasn't enough, we also have character posters featuring Dylan O'Brien, Rosa Salazar, Ki Hong Lee, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Nathalie Emmanuel and Kaya Scodelario. The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials hits theaters on September 18, going up against Black Mass, Captive and Everest. Check out the new trailer and posters to get ready for this action-packed sequel.
