Blues: Matthew McConaughey's career seems to be hit or miss these days. After missing with Reign of Fire, hitting with Frailty and missing - critically, at least - with How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, McConaughey seems to be in line for another hit.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, McConaughey is in negotiations to star in Tishomingo Blues, an adaptation of the Elmore Leonard ("Get Shorty" "Out of Sight") novel which Cheadle will helm, making his directorial debut.

The novel centers around high-diving daredevil Dennis Lenahan (McConaughey, if he signs on) who brings his traveling high-dive act to the Tishomingo Lodge and Casino. He witnesses a man being murdered by the Dixie Mafia, and befriends a slick con-man from Detroit (Cheadle), and gets a look into the world of Civil War reenacting.

Leonard's novels usually translate to film quite nicely, and an adaptation of another one of his novels, The Big Bounce starring Owen Wilson and Morgan Freeman will be in theaters in February.
