Warning: This article contains spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder.

Before Thor wielded the power of Stormbreaker, he relied on the power of the enchanted war-hammer Mjølnir. Forged by the Dwarves, the powerful weapon was made exclusively for the Asgardian Royal Family. As far as iconic weapons in the Marvel Cinematic Universe go, Mjølnir has been the most memorable of them all. It has also been around the longest, being featured throughout the Infinity Saga and most recently making an appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder.

What has differentiated Mjølnir from other weapons in the MCU is that it cannot be used, or even picked up, by just anyone. When Odin cast an enchantment over the hammer, Mjølnir became a weapon that could only be lifted by those who were deemed worthy. During Avengers: Age of Ultron, most of the Avengers were unable to lift Thor's hammer from a table. So, who has been able to lift it? Without further ado, here are all the characters in the MCU who were able to lift Mjølnir.

6 Hela

The firstborn child of Odin, Hela, wielded the power of Mjølnir before it ever came into Thor's possession. Hela used the weapon when she fought alongside Odin on their quest to conquer the Nine Realms. She later showed a preference for bladed weapons, such as Necroswords, that she was able to easily summon. In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor threw Mjølnir at Hela, and in a massive display of power, Hela caught the hammer mid-air and destroyed it with her bare hand. Because of the hammer's destruction, the Avengers had to travel back in time to retrieve it for use in the battle against Thanos.

5 Thor

Of course, the character Mjølnir has been most associated with is none other than Thor Odinson. The God of Thunder used Mjølnir as his primary weapon for many years, until Hela destroyed it like it was nothing. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thor co-created and replaced the destroyed weapon with the enchanted axe known as Stormbreaker. However, the events of Thor: Love and Thunder showed that Thor still had a soft spot in his heart for his old weapon. By the end of the film, he had trained his adoptive niece, Love, to use Stormbreaker while he went on to reclaim the reforged Mjølnir.

Doctor Jane Foster was a brilliant astrophysicist and the love interest of Thor. Unlike Thor, she was not an Asgardian who possessed superpowers and had lived for over a thousand years. While visiting New Asgard in Thor: Love and Thunder, the broken pieces of Mjølnir reassembled and chose Jane as its next user. Jane received superhuman abilities and named herself the "Mighty Thor," a title she used while battling Gorr the God Butcher. Unfortunately, the use of Mjølnir came at a cost for Jane as it sped up her cancer.

3 Odin

Odin, the former King of Asgard, requested the Dwarves to craft Mjølnir for him. As seen in Thor, Odin was also behind the hammer's requirement to find a user that was "worthy." He cast an enchantment on the weapon after Thor disrupted the fragile peace between the Frost Giants and the Asgardians. The enchantment was intended to punish Thor and prevent further misuse of Mjølnir's power. In the first Thor film, Odin summoned the hammer to his hand and used it to knock Thor into the Bifrost. As Odin was the one to place the enchantment over Mjølnir, all those who wielded its power had to live in alignment with Odin's values.

2 Vision

Shortly after being "born" in Age of Ultron, Vision left the Avengers speechless by casually picking up Mjølnir. While fighting with the Avengers in Sokovia, Vision hit Ultron with the hammer when Thor distracted the villainous A.I. Vision remarked that the hammer was "terribly well-balanced." He did not wield Mjølnir again before he met his end at the hands of Thanos. It is not known whether the White Vision rebuilt by S.W.O.R.D. in WandaVision is capable of lifting the hammer.

1 Captain America (Steve Rogers)

During Avengers: Age of Ultron, Steve Rogers was able to nudge Thor's hammer when others had been unable to move it whatsoever. Many fans viewed this as an unsuccessful attempt to lift Mjølnir. However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed in an AMA (via Reddit) that Steve was actually "always worthy" and was just being polite. This was further evidenced by Thor claiming he "knew it" in Avengers: Endgame when Captain America battled Thanos using the hammer. Captain America used Mjølnir throughout the Battle of Earth, and later returned the hammer to its original timeline.
