The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a franchise that prides itself on creating and developing complex characters. Whether you are rooting for a villain or a brand new hero, the MCU is designed for fans. In a franchise as big as this one, some characters are bound to be more popular than others. In fact, with so many projects, both in TV and in film, many characters seem to slip through the cracks of our minds. Some, never seem to go away.

As much as we love heroes like Iron Man and Captain America, the MCU has made sure that fans learn to dislike some characters and villains just as much as we love them. Whether it be a new film's ruthless villain or someone meant to be a hero that just fell short, the MCU definitely has its fair share of hits and misses. We are here today to highlight and explain a few of the most disliked characters in all of the MCU.

10 Todd — She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

The MCU these days have really played into the whole "comedy" thing in their most recent projects. One of the most talked-about series to have come from Marvel in the last few years is She-Hulk. While there is so much to love about this show from seeing old faces to learning to love the new ones, nothing seemed to twist our gears like the emergence of Todd. Todd Phelps has entitlement written all over him. He is the right amount of persistent and obnoxious to leave a sour taste in our mouths. What could be more dislikable than a villain trying to spoil our heroes' plans? A guy who ruins everything thinking he deserves to be the hero.

9 Gorr — Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder is one of those movies that falls under of the radar for MCU fans. This is the fourth film surrounding one of the original Avengers, and feedback like this can be labeled as a disappointment. One of the contributing factors to the lackluster response to this film happens to be the villain Gorr. This is not in any way shape or form a knock on Christian Bale's performance. The movie just seemed to take away every characteristic that made him a threat. The fact that Gorr spends most of his time in the film babysitting and terrorizing the children of New Asgard, let's just say that this villain has untapped potential.

8 Pepper Potts — Iron Man

Pepper Potts is an OG MCU character, making her debut in Iron Man. She has been on our screen for years. We would just like to point out that there is not really anything that Pepper does to have fans dislike her. Pepper's character, beyond being a rock and lover to Tony Stark, does not really exist. She has evolved throughout time and people never seem to be interested enough in her to call for more. Especially after she emerged as her own hero Rescue in Avengers: Endgame, no one really liked her character enough to build upon it.

7 Thanos — Avengers: Infinity War

The MCU has a great history of producing powerful, dynamic, and compelling villains. Avengers: Infinity War's main villain, Thanos is easily at the top of that list. How fans feel about him is more of a "love to hate" relationship. The best villains are disliked as much as they are appreciated. Thanos is the reason behind one of the most entertaining film franchises in movie history and the debate on whether or not he was right is still talked about today. The way he stood his ground and completely overpowered and uprooted the lives of the most powerful heroes in the world made all of us hate him. In fact, we were all full of cheers when Thor finally understood how to aim for the head in Avengers: Endgame.

6 Flash Thompson — Spider-Man: Homecoming

Don't even get us started with Flash Thompson. He is, in the simplest terms, a bully. Flash is first introduced as one of Peter Parker's egotistical terrorizers in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He is just so annoying; the way he tries to make himself important by bringing others down is villain origin story material. To make things worse, in the most recent Spider-Man film, Flash becomes the ultimate clout-chaser, pretending to be Peter/Spider-Man's best friend to get people to like him.

5 Tyler Hayward — WandaVision

Marvel Studios

Tyler Hayward, the acting Director of The Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division (S.W.O.R.D). Hayward is the kind of character that does not complete his villain arc until you finish watching the series. In WandaVision, Hayward tries to cover up his own mistakes by taking out Wanda. If that was not enough, he shoots at children, which cements him as a pretty deplorable character in our books.

4 Ralph Bohner — WandaVision

Evan Peters Wandavision
Disney+

MCU's WandaVision is easily one of the best post-Endgame projects out there. Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, is one of the most beloved and dynamic characters in the entire franchise. WandaVision sent audiences through a whirlwind of emotions that had us on the edge of our seats. However, there was something about Evan Peters playing Ralph Bohner as Pietro/Quicksilver in this series that leaves a sour taste in our mouths. Well, his deception of Wanda by pretending to be a deceased and beloved character in Quicksilver is never going to bode well with fans.

3 Ultron — Avengers: Age of Ultron

Avengers: Age of Ultron is really not that bad. Ultron may not be one of the most outstanding characters/villains in film. However, he really does his job of being a disliked force in the second Avengers movie well. Ultron is birthed from peacekeeping software from Tony Stark. However, as a being of artificial intelligence, he comes out as a villain looking to rid the world of enhanced individuals, including our Avengers. Something about Ultron is the right amount of evil and charisma that gets right under your skin whenever he opens his mouth.

2 Star-Lord / Peter Quill — Guardians of the Galaxy

StarLordThanos
Marvel Studios

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the best projects that the MCU has come out with. Its tone and visuals are refreshing and a complete standout in the MCU. Star-Lord / Peter Quill is the front face of this franchise and was a beloved presence as soon as he hit the screen. However, no one is perfect, and in one split second, Starlord was rejected in the MCU. In Avengers: Infinity War, the heroes on the planet Titan have the Infinity Gauntlet practically off of Thanos' hand when Starlord could not contain his emotions after finding out about Gamora's death. After that, he was the one people blamed for the Snap.

1 John Walker — The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Disney Platform Distribution

Do you want to get riled up, annoyed, and sometimes angry? All you have to do is check out John Walker in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. John Walker is played by Wyatt Russell and this character is a wannabe Captain America that gets a taste of some of the glory. However, when it comes down to it, he becomes more and more unfit for the job and is emerging as a dangerous presence in the future of the MCU. John sees his position, one that he is definitely not right for, being threatened. He is pretentious, slightly unhinged, and completely entitled, We would like to say that we want to see where they take his character. However, he was so unlikable in this show that maybe we don't want to see him back.
