You can firmly place this one in the stack of 'sequels we didn't know we were getting this year'. Yes, Jason Statham is returning as Arthur Bishop in Mechanic: Resurrection. It is a follow-up to the 2011 remake The Mechanic. Today, Summit Entertainment has released a first look photo at the sequel's leading man and his new lady, played by Jessica Alba. And it promises to be one cool treat in the very hot dog days of summer.

In Resurrection, Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) returns as the Mechanic when someone from his past forces him back into the business. Jason Statham and Jessica Alba are joined in the cast by Tommy Lee Jones and Michelle Yeoh. The movie will hit theaters starting August 26. The first Mechanic movie starring Jason Statham was a modest hit at the global box office, bringing in over $62 million when it was released in January 2011. That film was a remake of the 1972 movie of the same name, which starred Charles Bronson and was directed by Michael Winner.

Jason Statham is world renown as an action icon. He most recently signed for the lead role in Warner Bros. massive blockbuster thriller Meg, which will see The Expendables star going up against a prehistoric shark eating people off the coast of China. He will also reprise his role as Deckard Shaw in Fast & Furious 8, which begins shooting this summer. He also has the TV show Viva La Madness coming soon, which is a sequel to the movie Layer Cake.

Jessica Alba has become somewhat of an action star in her own right, taking the lead role in Spy Kids 4 and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. She most recently appeared in the action adventure Barely Lethal, and appeared as herself in the Entourage movie. This past January, she played the lead in the horror thriller The Veil. She will next be seen in Dear Eleanor, which arrives later this year. But fans are most excited to see her team up with Jason Statham in Mechanic: Resurrection. This first look photo only hints at the danger and excitement that awaits these two on the big screen later this summer.
