After years of existing in the shadows, Holly finally meets someone who can see her, a nightclub bouncer Shayne (played by Alan Ritchson). In this enjoyable supernatural movie, Fox portrays Shayne’s girlfriend, Juliana. The actress adds unexpected depth to a shallow role.
9 This Is 40
A sort-of sequel to Judd Apatow's Knocked Up, the 2012 romantic comedy This Is 40 is an honest and perceptive look at the lives of a middle-aged couple, Debbie (Leslie Mann) and her husband Pete (Paul Rudd), and their daughters, Sadie and Charlotte. In This is 40, Fox had a comedic supporting role as Desi, Debbie's employee who stole thousands of dollars. The actress’ performance brings a lot of fun to the film.
8 Think Like A Dog
For Gil Junger’s (the director behind 10 Things I Hate About You) cute 2021 family movie Think Like A Dog, Fox appears as Ellen Reed, mom of a 12-year-old tech prodigy. Her son, Oliver (played by Gabriel Bateman), creates a telepathic connection with his pet dog Henry and starts talking to the dog about his problems. Besides, the boy is trying to prevent his parents from splitting up. It is a feel-good film with wholesome family values that is enhanced by Fox’s presence.
7 Friends With Kids
Starring Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt (who also directed the film) in the lead roles, the 2011 romantic comedy Friends with Kids follows Jason and Julie, two longtime best friends in their mid-30s, who decide to have a child but keep things platonic. Things go well until they start dating again. Fox plays Mary Jane, Jason's love interest. It's a charming and funny performance, which received mostly positive reviews from critics.
6 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Working with director Michael Bay, Fox plays the character of reporter April O'Neil, who sets out to find her story in any way she possibly can. In her role as a human ally to the group of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, she teams up with them (disassociating from her recent task in exposing the group) in order to take down the opposition from planting a single device that could destroy human existence entirely. Megan Fox was a long-time fan of the franchise and enjoyed entering it without the culturally attributed gratuitous sexuality producers usually utilize her for.
5 Jennifer's Body
Jennifer's Body is a demonic possession movie at its finest, figuratively and literally. In the film, Jennifer is mostly associated with the stereotypical, hot girl in high school who every guy wants to date but can't have. It isn't until she becomes possessed (thanks to the band Low Shoulder, who dragged her to the woods and performed a demonic sacrifice to Satan in exchange for mainstream fame), that she begins showing signs of possession, by killing and eating men, in order to quench her appetite for human flesh. This cult horror comedy movie has some of Fox's best acting to date.
4 Transformers
If you love super-fast vehicles that turn into talking beings the size of a New York City skyscraper, then Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen (in which Fox was weirdly forced to gain weight) is 100% for you. Mikaela Banes (Fox) aids the Autobots, along with her boyfriend Sam (Shia Labeouf), to defeat the Decepticons. Mikaela's character is seen through the lens of a conventionally beautiful girl, until we later learn her character's backstory that is both intriguing and unorthodox, paired with her infatuation for cars.
3 Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
Encountering a group of mean girls in high school is literally hell on earth, and Fox plays the role to a T in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Carla Santini, the antagonist to Mary 'Lola' Elizabeth Cep (Lindsay Lohan), aims to make Lola's life a living hell in any way she sees fit. As the most popular girl in school, Carla utilizes her overabundance of resources bring Lola down after she was selected, over Carla to play Eliza in the school play Eliza Rocks.
2 Rogue
The action thriller Rogue follows a group of soldiers who are tasked to complete a dangerous mission by rescuing hostages in a remote location of Africa. In all, the film distinctly moves away from past roles that Fox has been known to play before, where the character of Samantha is emotionally involved throughout each challenge she faces. Megan's a solid leading actress in the movie, as her character Samantha is fearless and stands up against ruthless kidnapers.
1 Till Death
Let's start by saying marriage that is not worth the headache Emma goes through in Till Death. See, single life is not so bad after all. When Mark decides to take Emma away on an impromptu romantic getaway, the celebration of the couple's tenth anniversary becomes pure insanity once Emma wakes up to Mark's dead body, as she's also handcuffed. Emma basically has to fight for her life, while not trusting what she initially thought her marriage was, up until the moment when everything unexpectedly shifts. Megan Fox stuns with perhaps her best performance, in this excellent thriller.
