According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mel Gibson announced Friday that he is about to begin shooting his epic action-adventure movie Apocalypto in Veracruz, on the Gulf of Mexico; however he continues to keep his latest production under wraps.
Sporting a long beard as he spoke at a news conference, Gibson described Apocalypto as a story created in mythic proportions, with no European faces, and set in the pre-Hispanic era. Apocalypto is a Greek term that means "the unveiling" or "a new beginning."
Gibson is producing, directing and financing the picture out of his own pocket. He told reporters that "the budget is not as big as everyone seems to think." But he declined to specify how much it will cost.
