Working Title is developing a film about the legendary wizard Merlin, based on a pitch from author-screenwriter Jay Basu that updates the story into a contemporary setting, according to Heat Vision.

The details of the film are being kept under wraps. Merlin is most widely known from the legend of King Arthur, but has also been an influential force in pop culture. Characters including Gandalf, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Albus Dumbledore were all inspired by Merlin.
