Just one week after it was announced that Chadwick Boseman will play the title character in Marvel's Black Panther, the actor has signed on to star in the upcoming thriller Message From the King.

The story follows Jacob King (Chadwick Boseman), a young South African man who heads to Los Angeles in search of his younger sister, with just a few hundred dollars in his pocket and a return ticket booked home in seven days. Within 24 hours of his arrival, Jacob learns his sister has been murdered. Message From the King tells the story of the ensuing six days.

Fabrice Du Welz (Vinyan) has signed on to direct from a script by Stephen Cornwell (A Most Wanted Man) and Oliver Butcher (Unknown). Entertainment One will co-finance the project alongside The Ink Factory. Stephen Cornwell is also producing with Simon Cornwell and David Lancaster. Chadwick Boseman is also serving as executive producer alongside Ash Shah, Xavier Marchand and Benedict Carver.

Here's what Entertainment One president Xavier Marchand had to say in a statement.

"We're thrilled to be making this film with the talented team at The Ink Factory, Fabrice Du Welz and Chadwick Boseman."

Writer-producer Stephen Cornwell had this to say in his statement.

"We are delighted to be working with Chadwick, Fabrice and eOne on this film. Chadwick's unique talent and intelligence will bring a special combination of empathy and energy to the role, and in combination with Fabrice's exciting vision for the film we are sure this will deliver something extraordinary. eOne has been a great advocate for the project and we are looking forward enormously to working on the film with them."

Production is scheduled to begin this coming February in Los Angeles.
