In a reversal on the drama currently playing out between Austin Powers 3 and MGM over the title of the New Line film, Universal Pictures has filed a temporary restraining order against MGM over the use of their advertising campaign for their new film Rollerball.

In ads that have begun to air, MGM is touting Rollerball as being 'from the makers of The Fast and the Furious and Die Hard." The film is directed by John McTiernan who made Die Hard, and was written by John Pogue who did work on both Furious and Rollerball, but Universal filed the restraining order claiming false advertising, trademark dilution and unfair competition. Universal claims that an association with the long withheld Rollerball could damage their potential Furious franchise.
