MGM has bought the rights to the dark comedy, A Dog's Breakfast.

The film was shot in Vancouver by the cast and crew of Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1 while on production hiatus. It's written and directed by David Hewlett, who plays Dr. Rodney McKay on Stargate Atlantis; The Hollywood Reporter says Breakfast follows a brother (Hewlett) attempting to thwart a new relationship involving his sister (Kate Hewlett) and her TV star fiance, Ryan (Paul McGillion).

The movie was shot for about $1 million in January at a house adjoining Deer Lake in Vancouver. A Dog's Breakfast also stars Christopher Judge (Stargate SG-1), Rachel Luttrell (Stargate Atlantis) and Amanda Byram (The Swan host). It will hit theaters sometime next year.
