Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska have boarded Richard Ayoade's sophmore movie project, The Double.

The novella details the story of an insignificant man driven to near breakdown by the appearance of his doppelganger. The film is said to reflect on loneliness and our need to love and be loved. Jesse Eisenberg will play the lead Yakov Petrovich Golyadkin as well as his doppelganger with Mia Wasikowska role currently undetermined. The film is inspired by Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novella with the same name.

The script is being written by the director and original writer Avi Korine with Amina Dasmal and Robin Fox producing.

The project is set to shoot in the U.K. in spring/summer this year.
