Gus Van Sant's new film may have found its first cast member. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mia Wasiwowska (Alice in Wonderland) is in final negotiations to star in Gus Van Sant's Restless.

If she signs on, Wasiwowska would be the first cast member signed on to the film. Wasiwowska, who stars as Alice in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland next year, was also mulling over joining Robert Redford's The Conspirator, but decided on Restless. The film revolves around a young boy and young girl who are both preoccupied with their own mortality.

Van Sant is directing from a screenplay by first-time scribe Jason Lew, who adapted the film from his own play. Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and his daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard, who went to school with Lew, are producing the film. Production was said to start sometime this fall.
