Michael Gondry is known for his having his own off-beat style with his films, but he is looking forward to meshing those sensibilities with the demands of making a big-budge studio action film, albeit one that stars Seth Rogen as the titular superhero. Gondry spoke to SCI FI Wire about his experience working on The Green Hornet so far.

Gondry said "It's all going to be something different, but that's successful, so I guess there is no problem now." The director continued "We have a producer, Neal Moritz, who's pretty damn successful; he released Fast & Furious, which had [one of] the biggest openings of all time, so he's going to guide us in our differences, and so far all of my ideas, he loves them and says 'I like the ideas, and I'm open to them.'"

Gondry also said that this is a bit of a different experience, since the film was already moving forward when he joined on. But he says that he is looking forward to collaborating with Moritiz, and of course, Seth Rogen, who co-wrote and will star in the film. ""Of course, I have no choice," Gondry said. "I got on board a project that was already sort of going. But I think by them meeting me and me meeting them, we'll be in a very strong place."

Gondry also went on to talk a little bit about the tone of The Green Hornet. "People like to say it's quirky, but I think it works by trying to be as human as possible, I'll try to portray a human quality I see in real life and I appreciate through the medium." He continued "That's my job, to not use the film to camouflage moments of a person's personality, but to reveal that personality, and I think this is a very clear and broad statement, maybe something to do with feeling good or this type of direction, so I don't see why this should not be easy for people to appreciate."

The Green Hornet follows the exploits of Britt Reid, a wealthy heir to his father's newspaper franchise, The Daily Sentinel, who fights crime in the city at night, alongside his trusty martial-arts expert sidekick, Kato. Michael Gondry will direct the script co-written by Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The Green Hornet battles his way into theatres June 25, 2010.
