Columbia Pictures has brought on Michael Mann to direct The Big Stone Grid, a project which was first set up by the studio last March.

The story revolves around two New York City detectives, who uncover an extortion ring operating throughout the city's criminal underbelly. S. Craig Zahler wrote the screenplay, and it is said that Michael Mann will take a crack at the script alongside the writer. There is talk that Michael Mann may relocate the story to Los Angeles, although that has not been confirmed.

Michael De Luca is on board to produce, although it isn't known when production will begin. Michael Mann will likely direct Go Like Hell for 20th Century Fox next, a project we last reported on in May, which centers on the race car rivalry between Ford and Ferrari in the 1960s.
