Michael Pena has signed on to star opposite Mark Wahlberg in Paramount Pictures' political thriller Shooter. Helmer Antoine Fuqua is prepping the film, which is scheduled to begin shooting June 19 in Vancouver. Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing through his Paramount-based shingle di Bonaventura Pictures.

Penned by Jonathan Lemkin, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Shooter centers on an ace marksman (Wahlberg) who is double-crossed and framed for a presidential assassination he was trying to prevent.
