Michael Rymer, best known for his directing and producing work on the Sci-Fi Channel's revision of Battlestar Galactica will direct and co-produce Witchblade, based on the comic from Top Cow Productions. Rymer is currently working on the series finale for Battlestar Galactica and according to Variety will begin work on Witchblade shortly.

In addition to his work on Battlestar Galactica and the Witchblade, Rymer has also just wrapped production on Revolution, a two-hour pilot for NBC Universal and the Sci Fi Channel.

The story of the Witchblade involves a jewel-covered gauntlet that gives superhuman power to its' chosen wearer - one woman in each generation. Based on a comic written by Marc Silvestri, the series has sold more than 100 million copies since its 1995 debut, and has previously been adapted to a series on TNT that ran for two seasons, as well as an animated series in Japan.
