Grey Gardens director Michael Sucsy has signed on to direct Fox 2000's big-screen adaptation of the upcoming novel Rosaline.

Written by Rebecca Serle, Rosaline is a retelling of William Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet".

The film -- set in the 16th century -- centers on 17-year-old Rosaline Caplet, who is in love with her best friend, Rob Monteg. Rosaline's beautiful cousin, Juliet, steals Rob away, as revenge for Rosie's uncle having an affair with her mother years before. Rob eventually wants to win Rosie back, but she already has her eye on the quirky Ren.

"Rosaline" comes to bookstands in spring 2012.

No production date for the movie adaptation has been set.
