For many fans, Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman still gets the cream as the ultimate screen iteration of the Batman villain, and Tim Burton’s Batman Returns ended with the Cat very much alive and kicking and all set to return in another movie. However, Warner Bros. decided not to continue down the Tim Burton route for their third big-screen outing for Batman, and what potential there was for Pfeiffer to make a return as the fine feline seemed to have passed. However, with Michael Keaton once again returning to his Batman role in The Flash and Batgirl movies, there is an obvious question of whether we could ever see Pfeiffer also dipping back into the franchise?

Michelle Pfeiffer is currently on the other side of the comic book movie coin, appearing as the original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne, in Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man movies, the third of which is currently filming in Georgia for a release next summer. It is the first time the actress has returned to the superhero genre since her appearance in Batman Returns, so when asked by The Hollywood Reporter if she would consider backflipping over to DC again, she still hasn’t completely ruled out pulling on the catsuit again. She said of her character:

“She pulled off the almost impossible combo of sexy, ironic, tragic, dangerous and just plain good. It would depend on the context but, yeah, I’d consider it.”

There is currently a new Catwoman on the block thanks to Zoe Kravitz’s turn as the complex character in The Batman, but that is not part of the DCEU, meaning that there is still currently no Selina Kyle in that world. With multiverse shenanigans coming in The Flash, who knows whether she may yet get the chance to make that return in some capacity.

Michele Pfeiffer reprises her role as Janet Van Dyne in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but she recently revealed how hard it can be working on a Marvel movie thanks to changing scripts and extreme levels of secrecy around everything to prevent spoilers being leaked ahead of movie releases. In an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Pfeiffer explained:

"[Marvel Studios is] very mysterious, and they’re very secretive, of course, with their storylines. It’s a little hard because I met with [director] Peyton [Reed], and I knew a little bit about the character, but there was no script. You have to commit without actually having read anything. It wouldn’t have mattered because it all changes anyway. You don’t really know what you’re getting into, and then you get a script right before you start shooting, and then it changes every day. And then you shoot the movie, and you wrap, and then it changes again."

Of course, the actress is once again holding her tongue for Marvel as part of the team working on the third installment of the Ant-Man franchise. While the previous entries have been fun and added to the overall MCU story, this time around, the stakes seem to be much higher, with the Quantum Realm, multiverse and Kang the Conqueror all set to play big parts of the threequel’s storyline.
