Legendary actor Mickey Rooney has passed away at the age of 93 in Los Angeles.

The actor was born Joseph Yule, Jr. in the Brooklyn borough of New York City on September 23, 1920. He started his career on stage and landed his first role in Orchids and Ermine in 1927. Over his 92 year career, he had parts in hundreds of films and won the Academy Juvenile Award in 1938.

Mickey Rooney was married eight times and has nine children. He is survived by Jan Chamberlin, which he separated from in 2013. His final project was a documentary entitled Last Will and Embezzlement. In March 2011, he testified before a Senate committee considering legislation to curb abuses of senior citizens.
